The 3 Greatest Moments In Robot Hoover History

The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot hoover will vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as required. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin.  robot vacuum reviews 's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
